Cocktail Attire

Death in the Afternoon

What could be more decadent than absinthe and Champagne?  Death in the Afternoon is not only the name of a Hemingway book, it's also the author's name of a drink he contributed to a book of
 celebrity cocktail recipes in 1935.

His instructions are: "Pour one jigger absinthe into a Champagne glass. Add iced Champagne until it attains the proper opalescent milkiness. "Drink three to five of these slowly," recommends the great Author.

We've paired this once "forbidden" cocktail with a sassy dress
inspired by the  flapper girls of an era gone by.

Frock! Georgina Dress $238
Sazerac
It all began for the Sazerac cocktail in the early 1800's when Antoine Amedee Peychaud mixed Cognac with his Peychaud bitters. In 1859 the drink was the signature drink of the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, where it received its name. The exact reason for the substitution of rye whiskey for the Cognac is unclear, but the whiskey base is used today.

Mix 3 oz. rye whiskey, 3/4 oz. simple syrup, bitters to taste.  Garnish with a lemon twist.

Whiskey is a drink not for the faint of heart.
Therefore we needed to pair this bold cocktail
with an equal match of warmth & gusto.

Tina Dress by Amanda Uprichard $218

            Pink Greyhound
            2/3 cup pink grapefruit juice
                          2/3 cup Vodka
                          2 tsp grenadine
                          a glass full of ice
Finish with a sugar rim and
                      a sprig of Rosemary

We paired this drink with a splash of color and a sheer blouse to show it's sexy side.

Butter by Nadia Signature Wrap Dress $238
Greylin Sheer Cowl Neck Blouse $138

Martini
The Martini has been around for over one hundred years, satisfying and tantalizing the taste buds of many a connoisseur. Records of early Martini preparations have been found as far back as the 1860s however;
the origins of the Martini are still unknown to this day.
A drink as delicious and mysterious as 007, shaken not stirred!

2 1/2 oz Gin
1/4 oz Dry Vermouth
6 ice cubes
Mix ingredients in a shaker, pour into a martini glass &
garnish with 3 green olives

The woman who drinks Martini's is no stranger to standing out.  So we chose for her the dress that launched a thousand ships.

Frock! Reese Dress in Antique Gold $228

Cosmopolitan
The cocktail that was created during the groovy 70's made it's comeback thanks to four girls we know as
Carrie, Samantha, Miranda & Charlotte.
1 1/4 oz citron Vodka
1/4 oz Rose's lime juice
1/4 cup cranberry juice
1 cup ice cubes
In a cocktail shaker combine all ingredients. Shake well and strain
into a Martini glass.  Garnish with lime.

We paired the tasty Cosmo cocktail with a dress that is as sophisticated as it is flirtatious.
Go and paint the town red this New Years!
